Before his death, Malla Shehu entrusts the care of his daughter, Bintu, to an old friend, and begs her to fulfill his solemn vow that the young girl would marry Faruk Abdu. Through the following years, Hauwa struggles to do all that is best for her foster child, and anxiously waits for Faruk’s return from Europe, where he is studying. But before he comes home, events take place that totally alter the direction of Bintu’s life, and which remorselessly lead her towards tragedy.
